  1. I have been on three cruises in Europe.  One to the Eastern Mediterranean on a Royal Caribbean ship that included port stops in Nice, France & Monte Carlo; Florence/Pisa, Italy, Rome and Naples, Italy, Athens, Santorini and Mykonos, Greece; and Kusadasi, Turkey.  Then I did a cruise to the Baltic countries on Celebrity cruise line with ports stops in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Germany, Finalnd, Eastonia, and Poland.  And, the I did a cruise to the Western Mediterranean on a Norwegian ship that went to Cadiz, Palmera, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; Gibralter; Agadir, Morocco, and the Canary Islands.

I liked the first two cruises best because they had a lot of historical and cultural sights to see.  Places like Rome, Pisa, Pompeii, the Acropolis in Athens, and the Biblical city of Ephesus in Turkey.  That cruise was on the RC ship Brilliance of the Seas and that is one of my favorite of all ships.  The next cruise was to many countries where the main attraction was cultural and historical sights.  The ship we cruised on, the Celebrity's Constellation, was a great ship and so was the food service and everything about the cruise.

I recommend any of these two cruises.  But you must understand that cruises to Europe are typically cultural and historical and the tours from the ships do not provide the same type activities as cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico.    You will not have things like off road dune buggy rides, zip lines, scuba/snorkel, and other adventures.  The cruises typically have a more reserved crowd of people and they are typically older than on cruises to the Caribbean.  There are young people on the cruises but not as many.

If the cultural and historical activities are fun things for you then you will enjoy these type cruises.

  2. I have cruised in Europe twice.  Both times on Carnival.  Carnival in the Caribbean is all about partying, however in the Mediterranean you have serious travelers.  Not that you won't have fun but the mood is a bit less than a party atmosphere.

We cruised Rome, Naples, Sicily,2 days in Venice, Croatia, France, and Spain, Piza and back to Rome. Both times the cruise was wonderful!  Food was also very good.

I rec commend that you stay in Italy for one day after the cruise and take the last day excursion to see all of Rome.  Really worth the money.

Royal Caribbean also has a cruise very like this one, I think they are the same ports  But i think it is a bit more money.  Either of these Mediterranean cruises would be great!

Have a wonderful time.  It was a wonderful experience for my whole family and my son and his girlfriend were both in their twenties.  They loved it.

  3. Definitely go with Carnival. They have 2 ships that go there, Carnival freedom and the Splendor.

  4. I've been on two different cruises to Europe, both with Princess cruise lines. The first was the western Capitals. We went to Germany, France,Norway,Belgium and started in England. Then on another cruise, we did the Mediterranean, which was Spain, Greece, Italy, Turkey, and ending up in Venice. I loved both cruises very much. Never in my life did I ever think I would see Rome or Venice, or Greece.. We love Princess because it is more sophisticated and classy then Carnival, but the Price's are I think reasonable, and they do have anytime dining too. Go to princess. com for more info.
