Question:

Good Danceclubs in Toronto?

I am taking a friend from New York out on the town and I would like to know what the good danceclubs are these days.

I have not been to one for a while, but I used to frequent the Guvernment. Has it changed much in the last 5 years.

Also, what is This is London about and what about Circa.

We are 25 and 30 years old. Looking to dance, so it has to have a large dancefloor.

How long is the wait at the Guvernment and what is the best time to go, how much is the cover.

Same with This is London, are they picky about who they let in (some clubs do not let you in if they dont like the looks of you), how is the wait, how much is the cover.

Circa ...same thing.

Thanks.

  1. The Guv is still great! Would definitely recommend it.

This Is London features a much more mature crowd

Circa... I wouldn't really recommend, full of druggies, weirdo's, etc

My fave's would include Level Nightclub, Guvernment and Lot 332

For all of them I would recommend getting there around 11-1130. Cover is almost always free for girls when on guestlist (so make sure to get yourself and your friends on it, guestlist closes at 8pm the night of the event, so call or do it on the web earlier in the day)

    Hope that helps!

  2. Guvernment is a combination of 7 or 8 different clubs, but each club has a different dress code and price of cover. I have never been to this club as I have heard largely negative reviews. Cover ranges from 10-20 dollars.

This Is London is a more loungey club, and it is more of an older crowd. The club is very small and they are very selective as to whom they let in as the space is so small, you will certainly have to look your best.

Circa is by far the most ineresting of clubs in Toronto, and the one I will have to recommed to you. If you friend is from NYC, they will be interested to know that the owner of the club Peter Gatien is the owner of famed NYC clubs Limelight, and Tunnel. This club has 7 different large dancefloors, with varying types of music, everthing from hip hop to techno. Amazing art, and atmosphere. Cover is 15 on Fridays, and 20 on weekends. The line will look big, but it moves very fast as the club holds well over 2,000 people.

  3. Guvernment is kinda uh, sketchy now.

circa is TONS of fun, huge dance floor, so many levels

mink is fun, bit of an older crowd, roof top patio, big dance floor.

both, dress code in effect but its not to bad.

circa - line up is usually around 30mins on a fri/sat night before midnight.. cover is $15 on friday, $20 on sat.

Mink - lineup is around 45mins and cover is $10

sorry cant remember about this is london only gone once
