  1. Caesar's Column by Ignatius Donnelly

The Iron Heel by Jack London

    Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (Also published under the title Utopia-14.)

  2. ^^1984 and Brave New World (not so much Animal Farm)

    plus:

Fahrenheit 451, A Clockwork Orange, Neuromancer, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, The Man in the High Castle, Naked Lunch.

There's tons, but that's all I can think of for now.  And yeah, as you can see, dystopian fiction has more or less become a subgenre of science fiction.

  3. River Rats by Caroline Stevermer

    Postman by David Brin

    the dead and the gone

    by Susan Beth Pfeffer

    Life as We Knew It

  4. 1984 is probably the best. Brave New World, porny but good, Animal Farm is high on the list too.
