Good Educational PC Games for 5-7 year olds?

Question

I have a 6 year old heading into first grade next year and she has shown a big interest in computers lately.

Can anyone reccomend some good educational games/programs for a first grader. I'm thinkin something that helps with basic math , reading ect., while still being fun and keeping a 6 year olds attention.

So please reccomend some games or a series of games so we can get started ASAP. Tell me what you have tried and/or what your childs has liked. Thanks

The Jump Start games are the best they have jump start kindergarten 1st grade.... and reading typing math etc.

Why not spend more quality time with your children.  They are only young once.  When they are older let them play more with the computer, but at that age, try to interact with them more

My son loves his Math Missions Computer Game, but of the one's we've gotten, that is the only one he really plays (and he has some JumpStart, and others).

Personally, I might invest in a Leapster w/cartridges and let him play free educational computer games online.  

There are a lot of free educational online games, and the Leapster games are portable, fun, and eduacational and both my kids love them!

Mathblasters!  That stuff was awesome.  It ranges from "In Search of Spot", which covers simple addition and subtraction, all the way through pre-algebra.

I always liked the spelling games. Where the yhave mini games and you have t ogo though many levels. It might intrest her if you buy a bad computer and let her open it up and look at the parts with you supervision
