  1. first you should know what brand of guitar to choose, that also depends of the kind of music that you like, i love metal andthat stuff and my 1st guitar was a epiphone les paul special II and it is really god for beginners, even nowadays i play with it sometimes. very important is that guitar is cheap nowadays and you will have enough money to buy cables, picks, straps and whatever.

    features:

    Pickups: 2 Open Coil Humbuckers

    Hardware: Chrome

    Scale: 24.75 in.

    Nut Width: 1.68 in.

    Neck Joint: Bolt

    Neck Material: Mahogany

    Fingerboard: Rosewood/Dot

    Binding: None

    Body Material: Laminated Alder/Maple

    hope i've helped

  2. I know everyone has their own opinion, and it's hard for you to pick something.  I had the same issue, so what you should just do is go to a music store, and test out different guitars and see which one you like the most.  Don't forget to have a professional from the store help you find a nice guitar.  Depending on the kind of music you want to play, different guitars are best suited for certain styles.  I bought an Epiphone SG Special for $210 + tax, and its absolutely amazing, and plays more then one style, you might want to take a look at that, its great for beginners as well.

  3. This isn't the easiest question to answer, i mean it all depends on what music you want to start playing and stuff like that.

As a beginner, you wouldn't really know what to expect so why not ask around in your local music store? I am sure they can help you in some way, that is what they are for.

As for my opinion a Fender Squire is the best beginner guitar.

  4. Some starter packs can be good and some bad but if your only a beginner its hard to tell the difference. Obviously you want to buy a guitar and an amp, If you buy a starter pack it will have everything you need in it but if you don't buy one make sure you get a lead, and a couple of different sized picks (or plectrums) as well as just the guitar and the amp. If you do want a good starter pack with everything in i would suggest a "Squire Stratocaster" starter pack, there good quality and the have a nice range of tones, but if your into heavier type music the maybe try an "Epiphone" brand starter pack they're also good quality. But, as most of their guitars have double humbuckers in, you will get a heavier, more "metal-suited" tone. Also make sure you talk to one of the blokes in the guitar shop about what you wanna play and learn because they'll set you up with the right gear.

    Hope this is helpful

try that. that is a great guitar made my a great company, try to find a starter pack with an amp and anything else you'll think you might need.

  6. The Ibanez Mikro is a pretty decent guitar for starters since it is a smaller scale, don't underestimate it though it rocks just as much as the bigger ones.

The Epiphone SG is pretty good too for their prices, but my fav is definitely the Squier Affinity Telecaster god I love that guitar.

  7. The best guitar you could ever buy is a Fender Squire Strat. I love mine so much! It is EXCELLENT for starters.

  8. I bought my eldest son a starter pack from ion, and he really rocked that guitar!  Yes it was cheap but it got him started and he learnt how to restring and how to solder and fix his guitar many times.

He now plays a gibson and treats it with loving respect.

Both of my sons had early guitars from WESLEY (check them out on ebay) - fantastic quality for a very low price.

You have a pretty reasonable budget for a first guitar - my recommendation would be that you can get a fender squire - these are very good quality strats but are the cheaper end of the fender line.  You will have good quality - but my issue is that at this early stage you don't really need good quality and it will be kind of wasted on you.

My personal recommendation would be to get a pack, because then you get everything you need (amp, strap, gig bag, strings, plectrums, guitar) at a good price and can find out if you are really going to take to this.  THEN when you decide you are going to become the next fantastic guitarist to grace the universe you will know exactly what you want and be able to buy something that you really want.

In brief - starter packs are not all that bad for 'starters'.

Fender Squire is a good solid starter guitar if you don't want a starter pack - but you will also have to buy an amp, etc.
