Good Fiction Tragedy Book?

I am looking for a fiction book about tragedy or with a tragic ending. I am 15 but I am a mature reader. I like stories about vampires, witchcraft, fairies, and other fantasy. I have read the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice and they are among my favorites. I have read the Twilight series, Tithe, Ironside, and Valiant by Holly Black, and the V.C. Andrews Dollanganer Series. I am looking for something similar to these that has something to do with tragedy. I am open to books that are different from these as long as they follow that guideline.

  1. You're ready for Dracula.

Then move on to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

    Then start reading Byron's work.

    Muwuhaha.

  2. why don't you try the gunslinger series by stephen king? i tried reading it and they were just way too dark for my tastes so maybe you'll love em! don't be put off by the title of the series though. the part that i read did take place in the old west but far in the future and it's all pretty weird. which is to be expected from king, i suppose. anyhow, i think you should give em a try!

and now that i think about it, why not go for some classics the the dude below me suggested? edgar allen poe's works are just delicious!!
