  1. It really depends on what YOU want to play first of all. What style of music are you going for? If you honestly don't care, then there are some other factors you can look at. An electric is going to feel easier to play because the strings are closer to the fingerboard (less distance to push them down) and they're also slightly thinner. An acoustic's strings are a bit further up, so you have to push down harder, and they're thicker. You'll eventually have to get callouses on your fingers no matter which one you choose, but electric will be a little easier. As far as playing them, they both play the same notes and everything..

Cost-wise, an electric is probably going to cost more in the beginning because you need to think about an amp which you wouldn't need for an acoustic.

My #1 piece of advice is to try and buy from a legitimate music store!!! Don't go to Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Hastings, Sams Club, K-Mart, etc to buy. I worked in a music store for 5 years and I couldn't tell you how many guitars I had to fix from those places... 3/4 of them couldn't be fixed at all and I had to tell the customers that they should just return them.

  2. i found that acoustic was the easiest for me to learn. Bass only has 4 strings which makes it a little easier. But i think u should play the one you like the most. Good luck.
