Good Idea, but is it Legal to do this?

My friend and I would like to get away from our obnoxious dads, and very moody (mean) mothers. So we were planning to work at my aunt's little inn/motel near the beach. There are nine small rooms, and what we were going to propose to my aunt and our parents was:

We stay there working over the summer and the second to last week of the end of summer we come back home and get ready for school. This is next summer so we would be 15, we are very independent already and can cook, clean, and etc. Plus my mother takes me there over weekend to do work, and i walk around the piers and stuff, and feel safe.

Other info:

We manage the inn/motel meaning, we give the keys, collect the pay money and run the whole inn/motel, we might do the maid work too since there are only a few rooms.

The current manager has a son, like 18 or 19, and hes kinda old, and i thought why not give them a break?

my mother would check in on us every weekend to see if we're doing okay. This would go on for about two months?

Ok, here's a different angle then everyone else gave.  Quit your whining and complaining and accept your parents rules.  Most teens would describe their parents that way...you aren't special...suck it up and give your parents the respect they deserve.  And second...what, you think the two of you could just waltz in there for the summer and take someones job away from them...who's going to pay them....how will they survive if you are taking thier income?  Think beyond yourself here!

If you are being abused then please give some real details and email me with your parents name, your name and address so I can report this to child protective services.  Child abuse is illegal and needs to be stopped.

Obnoxousness and moodiness does not describe abuse..it  describes a whiney kid not liking to be told what to do.

This doesn't change the fact that you want ot take someone's job out from under them.

from what you have stated, no it is not illegal, for you. Because your family owns the place, even though, depending on the state, your most likely under age for work, your allowed to work there cause its family of yours that owns it. but it would be agianst your friends best intrest to work there because they are not in your family and again depending on the state the hotel could get in to trouble because of child laber laws.

if you need to be 16 to work, then it's not legal, but if you can be 15 and get a work permit or something, whatever age it is where you live, then it is fine.  

you just need to get your parents to agree.

you still need a work permit even if it is family owned.
