Good Japanese Meal?

I recently discovered a Japanese restaurent in a nearby city which we visit requently. I've never had Japanese but I love the culture, and since my parents know this, we've decided the next time we go there, we'll get something to eat there. I've never had Japanese before and so I ask you - what is a good food that's common? I know that's a hard question, so if you could just suggest going with something that has a particular food item in it that'd be great as well.

I'm open to everything, though I'm definately not a fan of fish. If you recommend something though that's made with fish, I'll try it. (; Thanks.

  1. sushi with a lil bit of wasabi

    p.s wasabi is spicy!!!!!!!

  2. I like Hibachi-style ANYTHING (with rice and vegetables), and sushi (nigiri or maki).  Teryaki-style food is great too.

  3. rice, roaches SUSHI- YUMMY

  4. California rolls FTW!

  5. OMG!-I luv Japanese food!

    What to eat:

1.Unagi Rice (at least that what i think its called well it is rice with eel and eel sauce really good)

    2. terriyaki chicken (omg-this is heaven usually terriaki sauce with chicken and rice)

3.Udon (japanese noodle-white and chewy usually has some differnet flavors at some stores but rarely)

4.Ramen (more of a japanese noodle than udon well it is yellow this one has more soup flavor choices at all store my personal favorite is soy sauce and than miso but miso is what most people like)

    5. ok most of the time they have like lunch and dinner boxes they usually come with your choice of either teriaki shrimp, teriaki salmon, teriaki chicken. and sometimes you can chose between rice or udon. and then they come with california rolls. sometimes this little dumpling that is really good.

well hope you like my answer enjoy!

    p.s. sometimes expensive

  6. We eat Japanese pretty often. We eat on the side where they cook in front of you. I haven't acquired the taste of sushi so I leave that alone. I usually get the meal with steak, chicken and shrimp. It is called the samurai here . This gives you a taste of everything including a salad, and soup (which is a broth) and you get fried rice and veg's with this meal. They will give you two different sauces that you can dip your meat in I like the orange colored one the other I don't like so well. It is a good place to go and they do their little tricks for you while they cook so it's good entertainment also. Have fun your gonna love it.

  7. Japanese curry or salmon sashimi or unagi hand rolls

  8. Chicken Katsu , Tempura, California Roll. These are definate starters fish free and not an acquired taste! When you start REALLY start eating Japanese cuisine, you should try the fresh fish rolls, salmon, tuna, etc... good luck and happy eating!

  9. OMG---- I love Japnese food and their culture. When going out to dinner I'm always open to Japenese my favorite place is Akira... Habachi would be your best choice. May I suggest the Chicken or Steak Habachi? You would love it!! The chef will usually serve this with two side sauces brown (steak sauce or a cream sauce) I myself don't like the brown sauce (too salty) but, the cream sauce is "YUMMY" you can pour it on your whole meal. Also the salad is great with Ginger dressing. As I've been to many Japanese restaurants they all seem to  generally have the same  choices on the menu.

Enjoy, I'm sure you'll be back for more :)
