Hey guys, I just got a new computer and I got a Microsoft Desktop 1000 Wireless Keyboard and mouse set, and well I really don't like it, the keys on the keyboard can't be held down for very long, thus making walking in a video game fairly hard and make games less enjoyable, anyways I'm gonna return it, what keyboard and mouse should I get, I want something good for gaming and wireless, I don't need a "gaming keyboard" just something that works well with games, I don't care about all those extra little buttons that I've seen some come with, also if it comes with a mouse, awesome, if not what's a good mouse, again doesn't have to be a gaming mouse, just something that works well with games, I'm not into all those extra buttons, something with two buttons and a wheel is all I want, also wireless and laser. All together I'm hoping to spend under $30, I could go to really any store like BestBuy, Wal*Mart, Circuit City, Comp USA, or even use New Egg. I just want a good mouse and keyboard for under $30.

  1. get a keyboard and mouse that has a usb tip... not the usual plug-and-play end... that would be better

it should be usb 2.0 compatible for best performance...

from what i know, you could buy a set keyboard and mouse for a low price becoz its back to school season and computer accessories are priced low.

  2. Stay away from wireless for gaming. Any interference will cause it to stop responding (let alone dead batteries in the middle of a frag fest)

Any wired keyboard would really do, even a cheap $6 one (and being so cheap, if it decides to die, you're not out of a mint -- like when the Logitech gaming boards do *and will* die. Get a cheap game controller -- like the Belkin N52 for about $25 -- if you need macros). If you still have a PS/2 port, use it, as it's one less device to overload the USB interface (and if the USB header ever blows, you can still get into Windows to save any files before an RMA).

Always, always, always have a PS/2 plugin or keyboard around for that purpose.

A good mouse is the Logitech G5. It will take a serious beating, especially the left and right mouse button, and won't get dirty with finger oils and dirt much, either. 1600ms laser fast, and with a good game pad, you can smoke the competition.

  3. Logitech keyboards would be the best for gaming.
