  1. From my perception of the knowledge I had and the things I saw about it on TV as a child, it seemed to be a beautiful, happy place.  Well that is how it came across before the name change and the ensuing events.

  2. I have many good memories of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe which I will treasure for the rest of my life. My school years at an all girls private school were especially happy ones, and I do believe that it formed the grounding that has enabled me to achieve the goals in my career so far. The very many family vacations spent fishing on the Zambezi river and Lake Kariba, were absolutely fantastic as were visits to the Victoria Falls, Vumba mountains and all around Zimbabwe. I recall a beautiful, prosperous and thriving country where life was great and people had so much to look forward to. I miss all the friends that we had and whom are now scattered across the globe, some of whom I may never hear from, or see again. Fortunately, many people still have hope that it will eventually return to a degree of it's former glory and prosperity in the future, I do too. I still make the occasional visit to Zimbabwe, but the change (or rather deterioration) is appalling and heartbreaking, the low morale of the people is saddening.  I miss the country that I once loved and where life was such a dream...but I guess that's what it's become...a thing of the past, just another chapter in the book of history.
