  1. As Adair has said about the surname subject  and it still fits here "Since you have asked this in the genealogy forum, I am going to respond as a person who is passionate about genealogy. Instead of giving you a list of meaningless names as others are doing, I am going to suggest that you dig into your family tree and pick a name from your family tree that has more meaning to you than some random name you just pick out of a phone book. If I were going to change mine, that is what I would do. I would want my name to be important to me and mean something to me. A name out the phone book does not accomplish that."

  2. This site was kind of interesting about names for twins which are linguistically connected.  Some of the names may be too old fashion but I like these ones:

    Cara and Mia

In Italian Cara means "beloved" and Mia means "my". Together they mean "my beloved", as the phrase caramia.

    Chandra and Selene

Chandra means "moon" in Sanskrit and Selene is the Greek goddess of the moon

  3. Congratulations! Since Duncan is a Scottish surname, in addition to considering  given names from your husband's family as well as your own, you might look at the following link: http://www.babyhold.com/list/Scottish_Ba...

Lara and Tara go well with Duncan as do Isobel and Alison.

Traditionally, Scots named their girls first after the father's mother and then after the mother's mother.  For example, if the dad's mother was Mary, the first daughter would be named Mary, and if the wife's mother was named Margaret, the second daughter would be named Margaret.  Third daughters were named for the mother herself. BTW, my great-great-great paternal grandmother was a Margaret Duncan (b. 1798 --) of Moore County, North Carolina.  She married an Archibald McDonald. My mother's family followed this naming system until about 1900 while my dad's family used this system until the 1920s.  Another common practice among Scots and Americans of Scottish descent was to use the mother's maiden name as a child's middle name.
