I have starting getting back into golf because i remembered how fun it is. I played last weekend and shot a 48 and yesterday i shot a 39 on 9 holes. This is the first time i played in 4 years. I am wondering if this is good. Also the difference also that helped is that i bought some Nike Slingshot Iron set.

  1. 39 is 3 over which really good for just getting back into the trend.

  2. Doesn't sound too bad. Remember "drive for show.... putt for dough". Before you go out to play instead of  hitting a large bucket of balls get a small bucket... concentrate on contact and keeping your head down. Then spend at least 30 minutes around the practice green. The short game will save you strokes always. The best round I ever played was in "junior golf" at my home course where I only hit 7/18 greens in regulation but got "up and down" from everywhere. Ended up shooting 68 on a par 71 course with a 71.5 rating.

In between playing go to a driving range with a chipping area and bunkers. Spend lots of time on those 3-7 foot putts. On long putts pace is the key as you are trying to put those 50 footers inside the magic 3 foot circle. Good luck with your game and remember these important things.

When asked, "What you normally shoot"? Reply, "Mid 70's, any warmer and I don't play". Or if you are trying for sympathy try "the best 2 balls I hit all day is when I stepped on a rake in the sand trap"!

  3. depends on what is par on the course, if it is a short par 3, 9 hole course, then it is an average score.  if it is on a regular front/back 9 of an 18 hole course then it is a good score.
