  1. Ok as a die hard veggie I will recommend Buddha Bodai (try the Mixed Veggie Rice, BBQ roast meat, General Tso's, Sesame Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Spring Rolls).

Also try Red Bamboo (every type of cuisine -- limited Asian dishes)

Pukk is also good for Thai (try the spicy corn noodles)

I also like Franchia but it is expensive and the taste is okay. I think Hangwai is better according to my friends.  Enjoy

  2. The Candle Cafe is a very popular vegeterian restuarant

  3. The people from Hangawi also own Franchia, a wonderful Korean teahouse serving up vegetarian sushi, noodle dishes and dumplings.

For pan-Asian vegan cuisine that appeals to all five senses, try Gobo:

For Thai food, without fish sauce, look no further than Pukk:

If you fancy vegetarian South Indian food, Madras Mahal is the place:

For all your dim sum needs, there's the Vegetarian Dim Sum House - (no prizes for the restaurant name, but the food is wonderful!):

More veggie Thai food at Wild Ginger:

    Happy eating! :)

  4. Zen Palate on 46th and 9th is pretty good although I haven't been there in a few years.  It is vegetarian / Asian fare.  Try the following link which lists over 100 vegetarian restaurants with menus, general info and reviews in NYC.

    Good luck!

  5. New York City is one of the most vegetarian-friendly places in the world, you're in luck!  There are so many purely vegetarian restaurants in NYC, and even more veggie-friendly, in case you're willing to try those that also serve meat-based dishes.

Here's the link to a great directory of these restaurants, VegDining.com:

I'd recommend Candle Cafe (top of the line, and with great desserts!), Zen Palate, and Hangawi.

    Good luck!

  6. I'm not a vegetarian, but I love Hangawi on 32nd and Fifth - excellent Korean food, pretty, comfortable place and good service.

I have a friend who's vegan - she loves Blossom on Ninth Avenue in Chelsea
