Good Venues in Edinburgh?

Question

I'll be travelling to Scotland for most of August and I was wondering if there are any good venues for punk, rock, ska, or just alternative music in Edinburgh or the surrounding area. I would like to see some shows while there and hopefully discover some news bands or artists.

island of punk festival-16th aug at cramond island in west edinburgh,island accessible via tidal causeway,live bands etc(bring your own beers)

clubs-hive in niddry st

other pubs-black bull(leith st)great jukebox!black rose tavern-rose st-rock/alternative bar

these places sure beat the h**l out of style bars and expensive cocktail places!!!
