  1. Gap wedge or sand wedge....it all depends on the distance and green slopes etc.

  2. The most common club carried bellow he pitching wedge is a sand wedge.  I own a CG12 Sandwedge which i use about 1o times a round.  This is the best investment i have made in a golf club as it has helped me lower my score.  I also own a Titleist Vokey Wedge and I prefer the Cleveland CG12.

  3. i would say a 52 degree gap wedge. that can be used for shots that are too long for a sand wedge but too short for a pitching wedge. i would suggest a cleveland cg14 with zip grooves to get the ball to spin.

  4. There is an article by Butch Harmon on the proper selection of wedges in the August issue of Golf Digest. He suggests that there should be a graduated loft difference in the set of no more than 5 to 6 degrees between  clubs. You will be hitting most wedge shots with less than a full swing so develop quarter, half, three-quarters and full swings with each wedge. .The logical clubs are the pitching wedge which you have most likely 48 degrees so add a 54 gap  and the sand wedge. The all purpose sand wedge is a great addition.

  5. Pitching Wedge 45*-49*       about 140-120yrds

    Gap Wedge 49*-54*                      135-115yrs

    Sand Wedge 54*-57*                     120-100yrds

    Lob Wedge 57*-64*                        100yds less

    the top rated wedges are;

    Callaway x Tour

    Cleveland CG14

    Titleist Vokey

    Taylor Made RAC
