  1. Best bet is Northwest airlines out of Detroit metro..

  2. Northwest..it is still a good airline..and not too cheap..I flew to Germany two years ago..but I usually fly to Tokyo, Japan

  3. Despite the recommendations for Northwest, you won't be flying on them to Berlin. They don't actually fly there. You can take Northwest only as far as Amsterdam or Paris and switch to KLM or Air France. The flights out of Amsterdam and Paris are listed in Northwest's schedules with their flight numbers, but they don't really operate the flights. Airlines call it "code-sharing". I call it "bait and switch".

In reality, Northwest is a pretty lousy airline. I could write a book on my bad experiences with them, but I'll keep it short. A few weeks ago, another passenger at the ticket counter had a problem. The ticket agent simply answered with "I only work here" and didn't try to help. I'd like to say that this is unusual, but it's not. I've seen it before. Northwest isn't my last choice for a flight to Europe (that would be United), but they're close.

I suggest Lufthansa. It's a connecting flight regardless of airline, so schedule isn't a big factor. Lufthansa's service is better than Northwest's and Frankfurt is an easier airport to change planes in than Paris. If you decide on Northwest, try to get a flight via Amsterdam. Again, it's much easier to change planes than Paris.

  4. All of the major airlines that fly the trans-Atlantic routes are about the same in Economy Class.  Choose based on schedule and price.

  5. You can go for  Lufthansa, it is something economical.  US Airways can be another option.
