Good/alternative venue for a Sweet 16 Party in NYC?

I don't want to use a catering hall. I'd like the party to have a club/lounge atmosphere.

One idea I have used is renting a loft.  There are some really nice locations - and you can pretty much decorate to your liking.  Locations run from about $1500 and up for the evening and you will have to make arrangements for food and such.  

I don't know what your budget is like but you can also look into a party cruise.  Two that I know of are  Marco Polo Cruises which is in Manhattan and Amberjack which leaves from Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn.
