Good and bad about renault 1.4 16 v petrol engine

Question

Buying used renault sedan 2005 14 16v petrol, anyone knows something about this engine?

its a reasonable engine, can be thirsty if thrashed.

coils tend to fail pretty regular (dont buy renault ones get after market ones).

have had a scenic with same engine and it was rubbish but alos have a clio with the same engine in and its great.

look at the car overall rather than concentrating on the engine.

every mechanic i know hates working on renaults!
