what is a good bait for fishing in the shore in the ocean and also what could u catch in the shore i would like to catch stingray and sharks if u can

  1. Small sharks and rays will eat almost anything. You can use cut squid, fish, or mussels. Bigger sharks (2' to 6') and rays will eat same cut baits when they are hungry. They prefer live baits. Live sardine and small mackerel will work much better than cut baits; 6" sardine and mackerel is the best size.


  2. The sharks and rays near the shore are bottom feeders, they'll eat just about anything. An anchovy or sardine or the fillet from a mackerel will probably do the best. For other fish (perch, corbina, or bass if you're fishing near a reef) you can use the same things, or sand crabs or the meat from inside a mussel (just yank them off rocks or pilings at low tide).

    I've done best in the surf with mussels, though most of my fishing has been off boats.
