Question:

Good ball for around the green, but one that wont slice?!?!?

I need a ball that will stop on the green and not roll off, so I guess I want one that spins a lot. But I sometimes have a terrible slice off the tee with my driver.....so I dont want a ball that will end up 3 fairways over. Is there a ball that can sort of do both? Spin back but have minimal side spin on slices? Distance isnt really that big of a concern with me....just one that goes straight off the tee, stops on the green, and rolls true off the putter?

Thanks!

  1. Keep in mind that most of a ball's ability to stop on the green comes from YOU making a good swing. If you're slicing your irons, no ball will get enough backspin on it to stop on the green.

Try the Bridgestone E6+. It will help reduce your slice and will stop pretty well on the green. Don't expect any miracles until you fix that swing though.

  2. If I were you I would stay far away from the top tier balls that the pro's use: PRO V, Nike One, etc...

You need a ball like the Bridgestone E6 or the Titelist NXT.  Both will accomplish what you are wanting.

Surprisingly enough the New Top Flight D2's are really good, and extremely reasonable cost.  Get the D2 Feel or D2 Straight.  It uses a new dimple technology.  I hit them all the time.

    Hit em straight

  3. There are balls that are good around greens, but you won't find one to fix your slice.  The balls that spin the fastest are Nike One Platinum(1), Wilson Tx4(2), Nike One Black(3), Titleist Pro V1x(4), and Srixon Z-URC(5).  The slice is a flaw in your swing not the ball.  You can find some irons that could possibly help with your slice.

  4. get yourself some Nike balls

  5. If i had a golf ball that did all the things you described i would be in heaven.  But for now i play Nike One Platinum's and i really like the way they perform.

  6. I would suggest the ProV1x.  They have less spin than the ProV1s but they still have the ability to grip and spin on greens.

  7. Definitely go for the Pro V 1. When I started using them I was amazed at how smoothly it rolled on putts and it is great for spinning back on the green. It will also help on the tee too. Avoid the Pro V 1*. They will not help you off the tee and they are usually best used by players with very high swing speeds.
