I'm from the country and I'm going to DC for a weekend with my fiance. We're both laidback and want to know if there are any cool, laidback places to go out for an evening... someplace like a bar or brewery, or even a country-themed place? Haha... Thanks for your help...

  1. For breweries, try Capitol City (locations around the District and suburbs) or the vast imported selections at RFD (Chinatown/Gallery Place). These are all pretty popular places, so I can't guarantee them as "laid back" but our friends who are beer affectionados enjoy them. In Arlington, their favorite is Rustico.

  2. Laid Back?  There are some great laid back places to hang.  Has for C&W I don't know who has both kinds of music.  Near metro stops, I recommend Cleveland Park.  Cleveland Park Bar and Grill, 4 P's Irish Pub and one more Irish bar are good times.  All are off the Red line.  Near the red line off the Woodley Park stop is Adam's Morgan.  This is the larger night life area.  One other place I would recommend would be Bourbons in Glover Park on Wisconsin just South of Calvert.  Glover Park is not near any metro and is just North of Georgetown.
