I'm in Vallejo (North/East Bay). I want to take about 20-40 family members to a nice beach Sat Aug 30. Where is your favorite/best pick?

I'm familiar with several, but I usually just go with my husband. I'd like your thoughts 'cause I'll be dragging my family there and want to make sure it's super fun.

  1. China Beach, Stinson Beach.

  2. Stinson is nice.  Ocean Beach is great, lots of room, there are fire pits (and a nearby Safeway to buy firewood).  The only caveat is the tide can be very dangerous to swim in.

  3. If you are willing to drive a bit, try Point Reyes.  Beautiful beaches, a light house, trails through the woods, working farms with animals, a good look at the San Andreas fault, hopefully good views of the Farallons.  Point Reyes Station is the small town at the entrance to the National Seashore, which is kind of cute.
