Good books that take place in Medieval Europe?

Are there any good books that take place in Europe before the 1700's? I'm thinking Middle Ages and medieval times especially, but the Dark Ages would be cool and the early modern period is fine as well. I really like books that have to do with nobles and whatnot. Any recommendations?
