  1. I would start with "Guns, Germs and Steel," by Jared Diamond.

  2. It really depends, there is so much world history

Ancient Civilazations, the World Wars, Asian Dynasties, Colonization, the Middle Ages.

there is a good book called Lies My teacher Told me  but that is a focus largely on American History.

If you can narrow your focuse I can recommend some specifics.

  3. There is two really good ones, first an overall book about world history is called the "Penguin History of the World" by J. M. Roberts. the second is just of the 20th century but it is called "The War of the World" (Not War of the worldS by Wells) it describes Human Nature and the causes of the Wars of the 20th Century, it is by a Brit by the name of Niall Ferguson. Both Fantastic Books, however there are LOTS and LOTS more that are great too.

You should not focus on ALL of world history for the fact that there is NO book that can incorporate everything in it due to the size of history itself (the book would be HUGE) so you should narrow your search into specific epochs (periods), so that you can learn the specifics, it will also allow you to broaden your search for topics.
