  1. Miura makes arguably the best clubs in the world, and you can get a set for the bargain basement price of $1200.

  2. If price is truly not an issue here, then I would suggest going to a reputable pro shop and demo as many different clubs as possible. Let the pro know that you are there to buy, not just dink around for fun. Find which clubs you hit the most consistently, get fitted properly and buy them. Take your time and take it seriously. I wish I was in your shoes! Good luck and have fun.

    edit-

Ping is the number 1 company in custom fitting for clubs, with their unique system, they should be able to find the right color code for you, which provides you with the perfect club. Yes do it, the clubs that are sold in the stores a made to fit a wide range of players, and if you are serious about golf, you should get custom fit. It helps reduce shanks and off center hits will go farther. This will greatly improve your game. Watch you hanicap drop from an 18 to about a 15 or 16 if you get your clubs fitted for you, by next season, you could be FIVE shots lower than you were this year.

The cost break down is as follows:

    Driver $299

    3 wood $219

    5 wood $219

    G10 irons $899

    G5i putter $115

    Ping bag $89.99

    Shipping $177.80

  3. everyone has their own picks, kinda like automobiles ... you really need to pick several brands, test them out, pick your top three then play some golf! i play titleist but i've always played them so i say swing away with the titleist!

  4. It all depends on YOU. Just because someone likes one brand and cam play with them does not mean you will like them at all. You need to get a set than you are comfortable with. The key is to get a set that is made for your type of swing and height. The proper fitting clubs will make a load of difference in your game. Enjoy

  5. My first set of clubs were Taylor Made Oversize burners.  They are great clubs for beginners. They have a great feel and forgiveness. I have had them for ten years now. I can now hit the 7iron 180yrds.  But, when I was recently in Florida and didn't have my clubs I was forced to rent clubs.  They were Callaway X-14 Steelheads.... I now own a set.  I can't hit them as far as my Taylor Mades, but I can get much more loft on them and get more backspin on the ball. They also have a nice feel.  In my opinion, both of these brands are great.

  6. I have Ping G2 High Launch irons and they're brilliant. Got them second hand and because they're not the latest model they were very cheap. In the two years I've had them I've halved my handicap (24 to 12).

They're the only set I've used except for my beginner set so I don't know how they compare to other clubs but I've no need to change them as I play well with them. I found them easy to hit from day 1.

If you're looking for value I'd say they're perfect or maybe G5's now that there are G10's out. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with anything else so I can't recommend any top of the range clubs if you've got plenty of money to splash.

As for drivers I don't think you can go wrong with a TalorMade (any kind).
