I need to know if this cage is good for a Syrian hamster (even though it says its for rats). I wanted a very big cage so its very roomy. Is this good?? I'm also VERY worried about hamster getting loose (because I have a kitten). Does this cage look escape proof????

Thank you

  2. No, that cage is not suitable at all. It is far too high (hamsters can seriously injure themselves if they fall too far), the levels are made of wire which is bad for their feet and can cause accidents (if they get their foot trapped) and there's not much floor space. It is always better to go for floor space over height as hamsters like to run around. I have my hamster in a Ferplast Mary rat cage which is great, although the bars were quite sharp when I got it and had to be filed down, so unless you are prepared to do that, I wouldn't actually recommend it. (Took me ages!!). Alternatively to that, Zoo zones 1 and 2 (2 being the biggest) are both good cages, although you will need to put mesh over the grills at the top to prevent any escapees. Another option is the Imac Fantasy cage as this can be extended upwards.

  3. i would say no as the ladders are steap and it aint really a cage for a hamster try looking for a actual hamster cage hope this helps and good luck with your hamster as well as finding a cage!!!!!! =)

  4. They like more ground space so I would say no. Also you could try a critter trail z or x they are only like $30and it has tubing which is good!

  5. I have a very similar cage for my hamster and he does fine in it.  My hamster is a panda hamster so he is the bigger type.

I have the wheel in the bottom and the food / water on the second level.  I hide treats and tissues (nesting) throughout his cage to keep him busy.  Oreo has never escaped from the cage but has escaped from his ball when it did not have a locking lid.
