  1. anything under 1.4  fiesta, corsa, etc.

  2. Look for something cheap to insure. New drivers pay extremely high premiums, sometimes £2000+! It's slightly less bad if you're over 25 but still quite nightmarish. Therefore, look for an older car that you don't mind not insuring comprehensive. Look for a car with a small engine, say 1l or less and insure it third party, fire and theft (TPF&T). Create a wish list of cars, look at something like Autotrader to get an idea of prices and then put your details, together with several hypothetical purchases into a price comparison website like Confused.com. And finally, don't be surprised if you have to pay more for your insurance than you do for the car!

  3. Volkswagen, I'm a big fan. They're really safe, look good, fun to drive and priced well.

  4. Something small, economical & reliable - Look at Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz etc., or for something a bit cheaper, Citroen Saxo, Peugeot 206, Renault Clio.

Stick with the smaller engines (1.4 or less) to keep insurance costs down.

As for one of your other answers suggesting you'll get numerous dents & dings, what rubbish! If that's your attitude, don't drive!

  5. A Pinto, just don't get hit in the *** of the car.

  6. whew..... (all i have to say about that 1st answer) anyway i would say something like a honda accord... cheap on insurance and cheap on gas and a really dependable car

  7. something like a hummer then you won't damage your car if you're involved in an accident.

Or more seriously, try the new Fiat 500

  8. i got a Ford Ka for my first car, had it about 3years and has never broken once so was reliable.

make sure you get it checked out by the AA or someone before you buy it if your not buying from a shop because it could break.

my insurance was £1700 for the first year, but has gone down considerably now its about £500.

ladies get cheaper insurance anyways becuase they are deemed less risk so your lucky there.

i think to get cheaper insurance you need a cheap car which wont cost them much to repair and a small engine, they put them in groups, group 1 being the cheapest.

I reccomend a Matiz and its only 0.75litre how cute i wish i got one, im not into cars just whatever gets me around.

  9. nissan micra cheap to run and maintain and cheap insurance

  10. something afordable, because you will end up messing this car up.  it is just a proven fact.  You will hit things, cause dings and need a new one in a few years.  Do not spend a lot on your first car.

  11. If you are looking for a cheap car i would suggest Toyota Camry, but other wise any 2008-09 car.

  12. Ford Fiesta.

  13. Something cheap, and inexpensive to repair.

Believe me, your first car WILL get damaged eventually, and you don't want to spend a wad of cash getting it fixed.

Once you've had your license for a few years, and are a competent driver that doesn't make mistakes, then splurge and buy something nice.
