Good catfish bait to try?

I've never really targeted catfish, but from what I've heard, carp meat works really well. I've heard of some monsters being caught with that stuff.

To give you a complete answer.

Although chicken liver works it is a very soft bait and can fall off the hook.Which means it`s not the best choice.

Beef liver or pork liver works better because it is stronger and stays on the hook better.

Tip:

to make your self a honey hole broad cast dog food in the area you want to fish 12 to 24 hrs. in advance. then just fish with beef or pork liver . and hold on. all this is very important in a contest or for immense pleasure.

chicken livers are the best but night crawlers and chicken gizzards will work as well. anything that stinks and will get a nice scent trail in the water.

You could try shrimp. I used to use shrimp in Texas for channel cats. What I did was buy the shrimp and leave it out in the sun in a zip lock bag for a day. It would smell bad the next day but it'd still have the texture to stay on the hook. Did pretty well with shrimp back then. Also carp was a good choice as suggested above. Cut it in 2" diameters and cast 'em out. Baiting a spot is very important as well. I used course ground corn meal. I would leave it in a bucket of water for about a week...it starts to ferment and stinks like, anyways..

I would place it in a pillow case with a brick ( in a bucket of course) , tie it off and add a heavy line to it. I'd go to a spot, take it out of the bucket and  threw it out at night when no one saw me baiting a spot ( then you have every one and their sister's boyfriend fishing there) and waited until the next night to fish.The scent was able to leave the pillow case but the fish couldn't eat it which meant more scent in the water for days to come. That's my little secret for the days back then. I fish mainly salt now so I might as well share.~good luck catchin'.
