  1. you would want to be around the tweed heads area to avoid schoolies or in land

  2. Well that's the problem it's schoolies week for you HAVE pay a premium price where ever you go.

Try the local dams like Glenlyon, they have camping sites, cabins and caravans are available at the Glenlyon Dam Tourist Park located at the waters edge. Facilities include a kiosk that sells bait, a boat ramp, a picnic area with tables and wood barbecues (wood available), drinking water, public phone, tennis court, playground toilets, showers and boat hire. So the kids have plenty to do.

  3. Check with your state motoring organisation, they usually have books with accommodation in them of differing types including budget accommodation. If you or a family member are members - I think from memory some of them are free. If not a  member then you may have to pay a small fee

I am pretty sure that they may be able to help you

Otherwise try on-line using search criteria such as budget accommodation and SE Old or NE  NSW as your search material

  4. Give the Gold Coast a big miss at this time!  Try Ballina,Coffs Harbour or Port Macquarie, all beautiful and more affordable locations. Check out visitnsw.com
