Good combination with mma?

i currently do mma, but theres not much standup work. i was going to do kickboxing. But its really just an aerobics class, with an optional fighters class, but it says its for advanced people. Would this suffice, or would i need to do boxing. Also there is some jujitsu in it, ould i need to go to a separate jujitsu class?

Thanks a lot

  1. watever is in ur area

jeet kune do has phenomanal striking an they grapple too sometimes i strongly recomend this

boxing is better than kickboxing aerobic style but a striking kickboxing class is just as good

wing chun would be interesting it would not compliment grappling but if u build ur triceps and speed u can get a lot of inside shots that many don train for

mma has recently turned ino more grappling though but i predict in the next 5 years striking will get even more important

anywhere is good if the instructor is good

  2. If you take the most experienced toe-l****r in the world and have him train you, you will still get kicked in the face. The "all styles are equal" rumor is ridiculous...

It's weird that theres not much standup work in your mma gym. Supplement with muay thai if you can. Kickboxing is cool but in mma a large portion of the striking occurs in the clinch. Also, knees are allowed in most mma promoters, and elbows in some.

If your options are kickboxing or boxing, check out the gyms. Most of the aerobics type kickboxing places don't have good coaching, and I don't know of any boxing places that are mainly for fitness, so you'd most likely want to go with the boxing. If the coaching is in the same realm though, go with kickboxing. And of course, if you can find muay thai, jump on that.

  3. Chinese Gung fu will solve your problem!

  4. You should definitely do kickboxing. It's better than regular boxing. With kickboxing you can build strong bones on your legs and you won't end up like Rampage Jackson in his last fight. Also you should separate your jiujitsu training. You want to learn each fighting style from a world class teacher. Not just an average one.
