  1. Depends on what games you are going to play. Be more specific.

Games such as CRYSIS are going to require top end specs. I would recommend any NVIDIA 8800 card. They are all very good. Make sure you get a multi-core processor. These are very good. You could hold out to get the new INTEL processors. They are supposed to be really good. Also, DELL monitors are very good. I speak from personal experience.

Remember, computer parts are becoming cheaper everyday, and what could one day be top of the range, could become a low end PC in a matter of a few months.

    THIS IS JUST SOME ADVICE.

  2. Really right now it isn't so much about the CPU for gaming.  It is about the graphics card.  You didn't mention about the CPU you are running or what motherboard.  If you have a PCIEx16 slot on your motherboard you are good to go.  There was an article on Tomshardware where they were taking a 9770 intel quad and also using every popular CPU below that and benchmarking them, using a 8800GTX graphics card.  All the CPU's used in that benchmark 9770 all the way down to AMD's 4800 did close to the same in true gaming situations, because all the stress of most games is on the graphics card.  There were some cases where the 4800 did lag back, but I didn't see many cases where it was a $1300 differance as their two prices compare...

Go with a Core2duo or a Q6600 for good stability in the mechanics of your PC and then get a 4870 graphics card for the best graphics for the price.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...  Keep in mind the $550 models are 4870x2's that will make a dead man have a wet dream...
