  1. well to meet someone new and make friends i say hi introduce myself, then i usually ask grade, schedule, and lunch?! if they have lunch with me then eat lunch with them something will come up to talk about

  2. Try and find some common ground. At first you're going to have to go through pointless 'small talk' but eventually you will find you have some similar interests. For example, music is a great one.

Also, you can always start talking about school and your classes as that'ss something you can talk about to everyone! Eg, liking/hating subjects/teachers/homework and then you can ask about what they're doing afterschool. Football? Oh I love football! Which team do you support...

And though you say liking someone shirt is lame, compliments are also a great way to start conversations as everyone loves to hear nice things about themselves!

If you are more shy, remember that most of the time people just appreciate a good listener more than some loudmouth.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll make loads of great new friends!

  3. First and foremost: know their name. there is nothing worse than having a good conversation with someone and then you see them again and you dont know what their name is.

If it's the beginning of the school year or new semester, you could ask them if they have any of the same classes.

You can ask them if they play any sports or are on a team. you could discover that you both have a sport in common and maybe you guys could go running and get to know each other better that way.

You can ask them if they like similar things like art, movies, or ice cream, etc

If you notice you are struggling in a certain class and someone else is a genius, you could ask to study with them.

it's not really a matter of what to say though.. if you appear to be out going and social [even if you're actually really shy] people will be drawn to you and it's a lot easier to meet more people. i'm not saying be fake or anything, but during my freshman and sophmore years, i was so insecure and shy that i really missed out. I'm going to be a junior this year and try to break out of my shell.

    Just remember****

Never tell too much about yourself. because even if it seems like the friendship will turn out really well, remember. its high school. And kids are mean and like to gossip
