  1. The Delaware river has a lot of crabs -- and some big crabs -- around the Philadelphia / Camden area stretching down into the Delaware Bay. Check around the creek mouths, marsh grasses and pilings as crabs hang around these places looking for food. As for bait I like bunker, on a hand line or in a crab trap it's hard to beat this bait for bringing in the crabs. As edibility goes some people will not eat any crabs caught in the river and some people do. The choice is all yours. Good luck!

  2. I wouldn't eat any from that area... I'd check with PA Fish & Game and NJ Fish and Game to see if they have any "advisories" in effect for that area - remember crabs are bottom feeders.

Protect yourself and check with them first - normally you can surf their sites or send their webmaster and email and they will respond. If it says to avoid eating bottom feeding fish (I'd include crabs too) and not go crabbing if you want to eat them.
