Good cross country workout? Help please!?

Ok, my mom won't let me run around in my neighborhood alone, so I came up with a workout to help prepare me for cross country. If I ran up and down my 14-step stairs 100 times a day (1 = up and down) plus do some ab workouts, would this be good to help get in shape for cross country. (Also, please don't give suggestions for other types of workouts, I just want to know if this is good or not.) Thank you!

  1. no, you need to incorporate speed and distance in your workouts, you need to work something out with your mom and be able to run further. i'd start at like 29 miles a week, 4-6 per day. but a good core work out is good. stiarts won't help

  2. Not really abs are important but the stairs wont help.

  3. probably not the best. you need to get edurance all running up stairs does is make your calfs bigger

  4. This would be good because it would help with your core muscle group. It also is good because the steps would also prepare you for hills.  That is a great workout program.  I am a cross country coach and i would suggest that program to runners on my team.  Just be careful running down the stairs not to fall down.
