Good cruiser motorcycle for taking road trips?

Looking for a good cruiser motorcycle to go on a road trip with. I HATE the big, bulky touring motorcycles.

I'm looking to spend 10k.

The only one I have seen is the Yamaha V-Star Custom.

  1. Check out the V Star 1300 Tourer.  It has everything ready to go.  Stock seat is great.  All it needs is a luggage rack added, & I had my windshield cut down to a shorter height.  It handles great.  I'm 5'10" & average build, female

  2. test ride them. Don't ask us to spend your money for you

  3. The Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom looks pretty nice...

kind of in between the v-star 650 and 1100

Some of the Honda Shadow's look nice, 750's 1100's

You could go Harley... with a sportster or something haha

The 900 custom and v-star 1100 are probably the best two choices for a comfortable cruiser that isn't titanic

  4. Last month I went 1400 miles in 7 days and camped every night. I carried everything I needed or wanted (sleeping bag, air matress, inflator, camp chair, tent, rain gear, etc). Of course I had to have a sissy bar and rack It's a 650 VStar Classic. I would invest in an aftermarket seat if I were you. The stock seats suck.

  5. Harley Davidson Electra Glide

  6. a lot of good talk about the v star... if you can up the bucks... 15 HD models are under 15,000 and they are dealing... sales are way down

  7. I  have a Yamaha Road Star 1600 & I've traveled to West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina (Deals Gap!), Ohio, Arizona (Grand Canyon) , all alone from California  & all  on my RS.  No camping gear, but I had a sort  of large T-bag  type bag mounted on the driver's backrest sitting on top of a fender rack.  No passenger seat.  Oh, and 2 saddlebags.  10  days.  I LOVE the stock seat (don't know what newer models have) and I did as many as 77 miles a day.  Now, if I only had cruise control...
