i really enjoy taking pictures of nature and close-up shots. and i actually am pretty good at it. but my camera, which is a SONY Cyber-shot, isnt very good at taking what i want and usually my picture ends up blurry. my friend has a Canon SD powershot1000 and her pictures come out amazing. is that the best kind of camera for nature shots and close up shots? or is there something better?

  1. treat your camera like the family jewels.  sony cyber shots are nice.  personally i like my panasonic DMC-LZ4.  just keep stuff on the lower pixel setting until you learn how to hold still...or cut back on the caffine.  i learned on a Vivatar vivicam....and still use that on for my close ups.

P.S.- keep your finger grease off the lens!  keep you camera in a padded camera case!  fuxzzy pics are usually because of fudged up lenses!

  2. Seriously, I would look into a SLR with a zoom lens for nature photography. Point and Shoot cameras are mainly good for taking with you on trips where you don't want to carry a bulky bag. But if your intentions are to get GREAT nature photos then you should bulk up. I am a Canon person so any of the Rebel versions would work fine and they are very inexpensive. The 400D and the 450D are very good choices. I personally have a 300D & a 350D and have shot some great nature shots with them. I use either a 70-300mm lens or a 80-400mm lens (with a tripod). Now a days you can find Zoom lenses with IS (Image Stabalization) but for a pretty steep price.

I hope this helps a bit.
