Good digital camera for use on safari?

Does anyone know the minimum specs I would need to take decent pictures on my holiday to Kruger? I'm a student so money is definitely an issue.

I have never been there, but I am sure that you will need a very good zoom.

If I were you and couldn't afford a decent DSLR with lenses, I would RENT one for the trip.

I truly don't think you'll get the photos out of a P&S that such a special trip calls for and deserves.

If you insist on going with a P&S, pick a Canon Powershot S5 IS
