Good exercises to improve breath capacity?

What are a few good ways to improve breath capacity? Mainly for swimming underwater long distances without breathing.

  1. Hey, that's what I'm trying to do also. Well, basically just practice going as long of a distance as you can in one breath and you'll see improvement. Take a whole bunch of breaths (so you get a little dizzy) and then a huge breath and go. Then rest a few minutes and try it again, except try to farther than last time.

    How far can you go? Me, I can go a lenght and a half; so around 37 meters or so...


  2. go to a pool, and do over unders. You swim above water without breathing, and then below water without breathing

  3. Running is good, and just practicing by going underwater.
