Question:

Good follow up for turning side kick during sparring?

I need a couple of good combinations that I can use with a turning side kick. I can usually hit my opponent with the turning side and push them back a little but I really need to follow up with another kick. I'm 5'2'' and I usually spar with taller people, so I need something that I can get in on them fast. Thanks!

  1. probaly a right cross punchthen a left knee kick

  2. backward hook spin kick

  3. Yeah... if you're turning as inkicking a side kick from the back leg I would say keep turning and do a spin back kick, spinning still into a front lunge then attack with your hands. I generally don't like spinning, but if you gotta do it then go all out.

  4. Set your foot down when the kick is finished an strike immediately with the fist closest to the opponent. When you do the kick keep your guard up this will put you in position to strike. To many fighters drop the arm over the kicking leg. This drives me bat blank. It makes that arm useless and if you miss your target your guard is down. This is a bad thing.

  5. After a turning kick, you could try something like a kick (or a flying kick) to the head with the other leg. Go for the turning kick with your weaker leg and finish with the strong leg. Always works for me. =)
