  1. Don't bother. The .38 special has very weak ballistics, especially when compared to the .357 magnum. You can shoot .38 special shells through .357 magnum pistols so what's the point? I recommend the Ruger gp100.

  2. Stick to brands like Ruger, Smith & Wesson and Colt and away from the unknown stuff

  3. Yes to the Ruger GP 100!  It has a modern sophisticated patented design, and the heavier weight helps in pointing. Most people who handload, select a power level halfway between the 38+P and full power 357 JHP 158 grain hunting loads, for general use. The full loads will take deer out to 50 yards with good lung hits, the lungs being a big, humane, and reliable target. The frangible defense loads, such as magsafe, will not penetrate walls and endanger the pizzaria next door. The grab and shoot from a locked bedstand is the very best choice over jam-o-matics which often want to negotiate terms before firing. If you know someone who handloads, the use of Hodgdon's Universal Clays powder has greatly reduced muzzle flash, so as to not blind the shooter in poor light conditions. Regards, Larry.

  4. Taurus

  5. For an economy handgun or someone on a tight budget gun EAA is a good brand. There are some, in my opinion better or higher quality handguns available.

  6. That would be EAA

The .38s are good basic guns along the same lines as a Hi Point or Charter Arms

They are far from an unknown brand, been around for many many years

  7. They are probabally Ok but if your looking for good quality a S & W or a Taurus would be better.

  8. EA is fine.  They make a 1911 that i've seen in IPSC practices so you know they will shoot more rounds than your average person.  Just keep in mind that replacement parts or accessories are harder to find.

  9. i have a smith and Wesson 38 special and it is considered the industry standard for revolvers so that would be my suggestion i don't think i would go for a European revolver
