My wife has been complaining that her hand is going numb and general discomfort with the grips on her Diamondback Wildwood Comfort Bike. Our LBS carries the Serfas RX grips that is supposed to remedy the numbness and discomfort. Any thoughts or other recommendations?

  1. a trek i work at a bike store i am and expert trust me they have excellent seats tires everything probly a 24" 3200 trek

  2. I have the same problem and the only thing that helps me are cycling gloves with gel inserts. I have a pair of Specialized Women's BG Gel Gloves and they do the job. Pearl Izumi also makes a good glove. She should expect to pay between $30 and $40 for a pair. It may seem like a lot to spend, but it's worth it.

  3. I have the same kind of problem.  I've found no magic answer, but several little things that each help some.  Get good bicycle gloves with gel padding.  Use good, cork, grip tape, wrapped nice and thick.  Change grip positions often.  Remove one hand at a time and sling it around a bit to keep good blood flow going.  Do not lock your elbows.  Locking your elbows puts all the vibration directly into your hands and wrists.  Sit up a little straighter, either by moving the seat forward a little, or by raising the stem a little.  Leaning way over places more body weight directly on the hands.  Finally, consider seeing a doctor to be assessed for carpal tunnel, especially if you notice any of these symptoms at times other than during and after riding.  I hope this helps.  Good luck!

If it is, I see it has an adjustable stem.  You can adjust that stem to bring the handlebars up and back closer to her.  That should make her riding posture a bit more upright and take some pressure off her hands and wrists.

You can also add bar ends to that bike.  It will let her change her hand positions to prevent her hands from going numb.

Definitely try the things mentioned by the above posters as well such as moving the seat forward on its mounting rails.

    Hope this helps, good luck.
