Hi,

I'm moving to Pasadena (91107) from TX in a couple of weeks and am looking to set up high-speed internet. I currently live in a small Texas town, where we only have one internet service provider, but there seem to be lots of options in pasadena. Any advice on what companies provide good service, and about how much they charge a month? Are there several electric and gas companies, as well, and are some cheaper than others? Thanks!

  1. I've had http://www.dslextreme.com for years now, lots of service options. Never a problem, except for having to reset (turn off and back on) my modem and airport every once in awhile when it gets bogged down. I think they use AT&T lines but they don't cap them like AT&T is said to do. I've been told that the cable internet tends to get slow and has more problems.

It's probably SCE and So Cal Gas, your water depends on location. Kinneloa has it's own water. Some of 91107 is actually unicorporated LA county (but called Pasadena), so one has to pay for garbage pick up, like from Allied, but most of 91107 is Pasadena city. If you're living in the hills in 91107 (Hastings, Kinneloa) Verizon works well for cell phones, but so does AT&T in many parts.

If you like the outdoors, there is an easy hike that passes through a stream that leads to a waterfall in Eaton Canyon (Altadena Dr just north of New York Dr). http://www.ecnca.org/  Nice to get away from the city so easily.

    Hope this helps.
