How about...

Every gets over Eight Belles death? Honestly! Do you people know how many race horses on average die each day? Just because one died in the Kentucky Derby doesn't mean it's inhumane.

Besides, Belles would have had a terrible life ahead of her had they performed surgery. It was best to just put her down then. Anyway, think of all the insurance money the collected. XD

  1. There are statistics available for catrostrophic injuries per 100 races.  This is one of the risks owners and trainers accept.  It is a necessary evil.  Injuries in major venues specifically the Kentucky Derby are rare.  Generally less expensive and relatively unknown  thoroughbreds face the same fate with little notice outside the stable gate.

    Break downs in major venues:

Ruffian - 1975 - Belmont Park - Match Race with Foolish Pleasure

Go For Wand - 1970 - Breeders Cup Distaff

George Washington  - 2007 - Breeders Cup Classic

  2. If you ran in the most important marathon in the world, came in second place, and died, would you want people to forget about you, just because of "all the insurance money the(y) collected"?

  3. well said!! race horses die every day all round the world, they die doing track work and training, in racing some even die in the paddock while there being spelled...... usually all through freek accidents, sad thing is you only ever here about it when a champion dies!!

  4. I think you worded what you meant to say a little wrong.

I think everyone needs to take a chill pill.  It's not like Eight Belles was being abused, she had a mis-step which according to her vet, was a freak accident.  This really is not a case of jockey abuse or trainer abuse, it was nobody's fault.  So for animal rights activists and PETA to be in an uproar, it's really just absurd.

  5. Most of the animal right people are just lame. They can go to the restaurant and eat steak and rib.

  6. I agree.

  7. That is a terrible thing to say. Would you really be stupid enough to post this online, where thousands of people are trying to honor Eight Belles. She was a terrific horse, and deserves to be remembered and honored. The only part I agree with, is people saying it was inhumane, because it wasn't and she needed to be put down.

Just ignore the Eight Belles post if you don't want to hear about it. And who frikin cares about insurance money?! get a life.

EDIT- I agree with the above. Thanks!
