Good idea for gifts?

Question

Since I am absolutely broke his year and my husband has a large family would it be okay to buy clear glass jars and make up the dry mix for cookies to give to people as presents for Xmas and other events?

Or maybe something like body scrubs or bath oils

those are great! i make those all the time for gifts. you can do soup mixes too, or cake mix, or brownies. Food is always a welcome gift. i like to also pick up items whenever I see something on clearance that I know someone in particular would like, then I just save it for Christmas or their birthdays.

that's a nice idea, but it's also nice to go the extra step and make the baked good yourself!  my relatives often give my family a loaf of pumpkin (or banana) bread along with an assortment of homemade christmas cookies.  that counts as their gift to our family, and our family gives the same type of thing back to them.  it's a nice touch to wrap them up in cute (holiday appropriate) boxes or bags, and that is stuff you can find for pretty cheap prices.  i think the homemade approach is a great way to go, and if you enjoy baking, why not add that extra special touch!

Those are great things. Or make the cookies and give them on a cheap but nice plate or dish wrapped with colored saran wrap and a ribbon.

Absolutely!  You can get some cheap fabric remnants and put circles over the top of the jars, and tie with raffia.  Put the recipe on a piece of paper, cut with a pinking shears, and attached to the raffia .......
