Good ideas for my mother's 50th party.?

I would not like a lot of the ideas on my 50th. I am younger looking than most that are 15 years younger than me and I still party like a Rock Star! Who ever said 50 is suppose to be old??? I am living like I never could when I was younger.

My friends gave me a party but the day before they had a limo pick me up and take me to a Spa and while I sipped champagne I was pampered all day ! It was amazing and I felt great when we went out partying the next night at my "surprise party " where a bunch of friends gathered at a favorite hang out.  It was so much better than all those stupid "over the hill" waste of money themes . Just remember one thing--- 50 IS NOT OLD!!!!

It entirely depends on your mother and her taste and sense of humor etc. but a few years ago we wanted to put on an affair for a very casual 'young' 50 B-day girl.

We decided to go the elegant celebration route using silver and white lace and white flowers as the decor theme. It was mostly garage sale lace and we had matching hardly any thing...but it was beautiful and elegant in its mix-matched way. She loved it.

I had volunteered for the appetizer and served 'crab stuffed artichoke' on a 'lace' doily topped by a spray of chives. (Probably the most exp. app. I've ever served on a per person basis....I just wanted to show how we were carrying out our theme of 'white on white' colors...)

Thats one idea but like I say everyone is different and this worked for one gal that maybe wanted to see herself as aging elegantly...

How about a "super-sweet-50"? :)

Get your mom a tiara and a dozen roses, and pick her and some of her friends up in a limo to take them to the party. Hire a dj to play your mom's favorite music for dancing, get some family members to donate their cooking skills to make easy snacks (like meatballs, mini pizzas, rice crispie treats, etc. Don't forget to include your mom's favorites!). Order a cake with her picture on it (use a picture she LIKES!). She'll love that you went "all out" and put so much effort into making it special!
