Good ideas to ' downshift ' we want to dump all the unnecessary bills?

ditch the tv. ditch the dryer, and be real radical hippies....anybody else done this..and was it a good experience ??/

  1. yes, several times and its great. Very liberating and saves an absolute fortune in bills.

    I always enjoy my life more when i have less 'mod cons'

    Ive lived in caravans a few times, using only rainwater, a well for drinking water, wood for fires/heat and cooking and candles for lighting.  The only mod con i had was a mini gas oven and 2 rings that ran off a bottle. I didnt use it every day, if i had a fire going i used it to the max - for cooking, clothes washing and washing up even bathing the children in a tin bath.  (im 39 by the way)

    Sometimes its nice to have a bigger indoors space, central heating, hot water on tap, electric lights, even a tv sometimes, but most of the time the caravan life is the favourite.
