I'm going to be a mom in 2.5 months, and i'd like to have a digital camera that takes pictures and records short to moderately long videos. i've also seen that some cameras now come with a usb to upload pics, i don't mind paying a little extra for extras. what are your suggestions?

  1. I think a Nikon SLR is the best camera for what you are looking for. I have the Nikon D40 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens and we have 5 kids so we use it a lot!! This camera sounds perfect for you.

  2. Sony and Canon are very good, and not just the brand new models. search at like bestbuy or something for something that fits your price range

  3. I've used a Canon Powershot for several years.  This is my third Powershot as I've taken them around backpacking and they've taken quite a beating.

They take excellent, quality pictures. They're reliable and   also record good quality video. You basically get everything you need in a relatively inexpensive, ultra-compact digital camera.

They can be found at most places that sell digital camera's - like Bestbuy.

What Ashley said about new models is totally true.  Older models are still very good and in some cases even BETTER than new models.  So many camera's are caught up in the megapixel race and comprimise other features of the camera.  Even a 6 megapixel camera takes excellent pictures.

  4. Get a Sony Cybershot, those are reliable, good price for the quality, decent size to avoid shaking while taking pictures. If your camera is very small and thin like most Canons, then your pictures will be fuzzy looking. And make sure the megapixels are about 7.5-8.0, so if you want to enlarge a picture, it won't be blurry. If you decide to buy another camera, check Amazon.com for the camera, and then read the reviews. Never make hasty decisions when buying cameras, it's such a hassle to return them. Good luck with your baby and camera. =]

  5. the Canon powershot ELPH series are the best when it comes to focus speed, indoor flash, and picture sharpness. the Nikon L series digital cameras may not be as fast on the flash as the Canon, but the controls are much simpler and they run off standard batteries or rechargables, Nikon lenses are also just as good as Canon. both use inexpensive  SD cards. Stay away from Sony,Fuji, and Olympus, all take nice pictures but use proprietary storage;memory stick, and xD cards that are more expensive and not as readily available.
