Good inexpensive neighbourhoods in Brisbane?

My Family and I are looking for a good neighbourhood to live in near (more or less) Griffith University. We appreciate your responses.

  1. I don't know if there is any such thing as a good inexpensive neighbourhood in Brisbane! The real estate market is booming.

  2. anywhere between mt. gravatt ( basically  where griffith uni is) and the city. west of mt.gravatt is less desirable, anywhere south is undesirable (my opinion), east of mt.gravatt is quiet and suburban....towards the city gets more and more cosmo.  such places as woolloongabba ( no, i'm not joking) and east brisbane, dutton park and surrounds are nice, old and expensive. almost anywhere  i've mentioned, expect to pay $ 370-$500 per week rent.  there is FIERCE competition for available rental propery as we are experiencing a rental accom. crisis here. due to the high price of housing it is hard to get a rental return on your investment,even at those rental figures, ergo...investors are shy of the housing market, at the moment, result, fewer properties available for rent.
