Good long island iced tea?

i am trying to make long island's and every time i mak them i s***w something up and they come out nasty. ive read and read about how to do it. i add all the stuff together like i read and mix it. any suggestions on the perfect one?

  1. Use a pint glass. Squeeze a lemon wedge and lime wedge in the bottom.  Add some simple syrup (sugar water).  Fill the glass with ice.  Add half shots of vodka, rum, gin, tequila, and triple sec.  Top with sour mix.  Shake well.  Top with a splash of cola.

  3. I use the same recipe as Silas M, except I omit the tequila unless I have the good stuff on hand. I have found using 'well' tequila adds a slight oaky taste. However, that is just my preference. A few of my customers agreed however. Even though, come to think of it, I think they would have drank anything I sat down in front of them. Anyway, good luck and enjoy. Once you master the long island, try for a long beach or a purple rain...all very tasty but can be quite deadly.
